Distressed
Freight and Reverse Logistic should be one of the same; however
it is not. There are millions of dollars in distressed freight
on every LTL carrier's dock that this very moment. This is
freight that is over, damaged and refused. This Freight can be
refused due to: damage, undeliverable, bad address, cannot
located the consignee, and a host of other reasons. The carriers
have tried to contact the shippers and have not been successful
with a disposition. After a certain period, this shipment is
sent to salvage centers and sold. The proceeds will be used to
pay for the freight charges and storage charges.
